I’m Onyxicca, the creator of Emberosis and its writing hearth, Between Battles.
I make dark fantasy tools, writing, and objects for gamers, spoonies, creatives, and anyone living in a real body with real limits. The work is shaped by my own life: years navigating multiple chronic illnesses, including connective tissue and vascular conditions, endometriosis, and autoimmunity, alongside a long love of games, ritual, gothic aesthetics, and the very practical need for things that make hard days more livable. I am not writing about these subjects from the outside. I am writing from inside them, on the days they are easy to carry and the days they are not.
Between Battles is where that becomes words. It is a blog and a monthly newsletter where I take the ordinary machinery of games, and of bodies, and of difficult ordinary life, and look for the hidden mechanism underneath, the thing that turns a familiar experience into a mirror you did not expect. A save point becomes a way to understand memory. A bonfire that resets the world becomes a way to understand recovery after every forced rest. The point is never the game. The point is the human truth the game happened to encode, and what it might be worth to someone trying to keep going.
Emberosis is where that world becomes physical: the shop, the membership, the manifesto, and the tools and objects made for people who need beauty and usefulness on the days that ask the most of them.
The philosophy underneath all of it is simple, and it is the thing I most want you to take from this page if you take nothing else. A fire does not have to burn at full intensity to still be alive. Before matches existed, people banked their fires overnight, lowering the flame and covering the coals so that enough heat survived until morning. That is what this whole project is for: the part of you that has had to become quieter, smaller, or slower, and was afraid that meant it was disappearing. It is not gone. It is being carried through conditions that would consume it if it stayed exposed. Emberosis is for the ones learning how to continue.
A few honest notes about what this is, and what it is not.
I am not a doctor, a therapist, or any kind of licensed medical or mental health professional, and nothing on this site is medical, psychological, or professional advice. I share my own personal experience and general, publicly available information, and I write about how I and others have navigated life with chronic illness. That is storytelling and reflection, not treatment. It is not a substitute for care from a qualified provider who knows your specific situation. If something here resonates and you want to act on it, please bring it to your own doctor or a licensed professional. Your body is yours, your circumstances are your own, and the people qualified to advise you on them are the ones who can actually examine you.
If you want the essays, Between Battles is the place to start reading. If you want the tools and the goods, Emberosis is where the world becomes something you can hold.
Either way, welcome. The fire is not gone. You are dealing with ember conditions, and so am I.
